The Ukunika Entrepreneur Readiness workshop at the Small Business Development Centre in Khayelitsha in March Presenter, Mentors and Adjudicators Vivian Stoffels companied by Rudolf Rieger in his capacity as mentor, adjudicator and SMME accredited service provider facilitated the Program. Additional adjudicators were actor, creative director and writer Royston Stoffels and education specialist Eddie Davids. Candidates Anele Abraham Madikwa – Music Recording Artist Awonke Bikitsha – Woodwork Project and Tenderpreneur Thero Mfemyana – Fashion Designer Siseko Mowali – Internet Café Vuyokazi Njolwana – Catering Wendy Plaatjies – International Township Restaurant Monde Waja –Petrol Station Ntsika Bandla – Construction Company Mawabo Damoyi – Recycle Toilet Paper Candidates presented their business concept, which was examined in detail where helpful advice was offered. Participants learnt how to: Demonstrate how their idea fits into a broader picture Improve their empathetic skills, "think with someone else's brain," and anticipate how ideas will be received Identify the people and training who can assist in carrying their ideas to reality Face resistance squarely and overcome negativity Improve presentation skills so that their ideas won't be lost in a substandard delivery Obtain the facts and strategies and plans that will support their business concept Take the action required to make it happen Ukunika Education is a network of linked business people who offer their skills and expertise aimed at nurturing entrepreneurship and creating new leaders and role models.
